Amelia has accepted an athletic scholarship to attend and play volleyball for Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Flagler is a small school on the Atlantic coast north of Daytona. Jeanne and I visited St. Augustine often during our Floridays. Amelia will be near her godparents, and our great friends, Denny and Dori Vandendriessche and their two kids Jake and Jesse. Flagler has been Amelia’s first choice for over a year. She attended Flagler volleyball camps for the last two summers. She expressed early interest to the Flagler coaches and team members. In turn, they noticed Amelia’s skill, leadership and grace on and off the court. Appropriately, the Flagler offer, the family discussion, and our subsequent acceptance all took place around a campfire in southern Colorado as we were visiting Colorado colleges. The family decision was made under a starry sky in the San Luis Valley with 270 degrees of 14,000 ft. peaks including The Great Sand Dunes as the foothills to the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. We are very proud parents.

Congratulations Amelia!!! That’s so great! I hope to get to see you play one of these days (or maybe you should come and visit and we can play in a tournament together? You can teach me a few things 🙂
Congratulations Jimmy and Jeanne on raising such a amazing young woman.
Congratulations!!!!! I know this is the school you hoped to go to— I’m really happy for you that you got in! The pictures look great— you will be the player they need!
So excited for you,
Wonderful news Amelia! While watching the finals of the women’s World Cup I thought about you and all the tough training it takes to become an athlete. We’re really proud of you.
